Message from Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile:

The Federation of Tibetan Co-operatives in India is a national level federal body of all Tibetan Co-operative Societies in India. It was registered according to law on 20th April 2005. As of now, it has 15 members who are the different Tibetan Co-operative Societies existing in the major Tibetan Settlements all over India. The shareholders of these Societies are the people living in the settlements which form the majority of the Tibetans in India.

The main aim of this Federation is the upliftment of the social and economic condition of its members. Therefore the well-being of the majority of Tibetans in India would, to a large extend, depend on the success of this Federation.

The Federation is now and trying very hard to find its feet to shoulder the heavy responsibilities. It needs the support and cooperaton of all those who are concerned about the social and economic betterment of the Tibetan people.

The Parliament-in-Exile therefore, strongly recommends and solicits the full financial backing from all friends and well wishers of Tibet.

Message from Kashag:

I am pleased to state that with the full support and encouragement from the Kashag (Cabinet) Central Tibetan Administration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, a national level federal body of all the Tibetan co-operative has been formed and registered on 20th April 2005 under the Multi-states Co-operative in India Act, 2002 of India, in the name of "Federation of Tibetan Co-operative in India Ltd." As on today it has 15 Tibetan co-operative society scattered all over India as its member. The principle objective of the Federation is to promote the interest of its entire members to attain their social and economic betterment through self-help and mutual aid in accordance with the co-operative principles.

The above said Federation is still at its formative stage and the financial position of the member co-operatives are not in a good position to enable them to contribute substantial amount as their share to the Federation. The Kashag would very much like to see the success of the Federation so that, through it's activities, a large number of Tibetan refugees residing in India would get benefits in order to improve their living standard. Keeping in view of the above stated facts I would highly recommend and appreciate for any financial assistant rendered to the Federation to strengthen it to serve the Tibetan people better in the future.
